 Travelling
into the distant pastThe Kas of today has it’s roots in the hellenistic period and was originally named Antiphellos. Under Roman rule it was the leading city of this region. The Lycians belonged to the most ancient nations of Anatolia and many signs are left in Kas telling us stories about their magnificent past. The most important sights are a well preserved sarcophagus of approximately 3 m height in the town centre, relics of a former city wall, skilfully decorated rock graves and a very well preserved amphitheatre that allows for a beautiful view of the shimmering sea, the peninsula of Kas and the greek island of Kastellorizo (Meis). |
