Enjoyment Under the Sun

In Kas you can combine our wonderful untouched nature and history during your holiday. Even if the former fishing village today survives almost exclusively on tourism, Kas has largely been spared the hustle and bustle of a large tourist population enabling it to retain much of the original atmosphere.

In the Past

Today’s Kas developed in hellenistic times under the name Antiphellos and was the leading town of the region during Roman times. Numerous historical records testify from the past that Kas still contains the Lykian people who count as the oldest people of Anatolia. The most significant places of interest are a well-preserved 3-m-high sarcophagus in the middle of the local centre, remains of the former town wall, skilfully decorated rock graves as well as a very well-preserved amphitheatre which offers a marvellous look over the glittering sea the peninsula of Kas and the offshore Greek island Kastellorizo (Megisti).
